1
' Well Sampling
' The groundwater monitoring wells were purged and sampled using either a PVC and
Teflon bailer, respectively, or a Grundfos RediFlo-2 electric submersible pump (refer to
' Water Sample Field Data Sheets) Glass bottles of at least 40 milliliters volume and
fitted with Teflon-lined septa were used in sampling for volatile organics These bottles
were filled completely to prevent air from remaining in the bottle A positive meniscus
' forms when the bottles are completely full A convex Teflon septum was placed over the
meniscus to eliminate air After capping, the bottles were inverted and tapped to verify
that they did not contain air bubbles The sample containers for other parameters were
filled and capped If required and/or requested by the Client, duplicate sample analyses
were performed on five percent of the groundwater samples collected
SAMPLE HANDLING AND DOCUMENTATION
The following section specifies the procedures and documentation used during sample
handling
Sample Handling
' All sample containers were labeled immediately following sample collection Samples
were kept cool with ice until received by the laboratory If the sampling was conducted
over more than Ice is replaced each day to maintain refrigeration At the time of
sampling, each sample is logged on a Chain-of-Custody record that accompanies the
' sample to the Department of Health Services-approved laboratory
16
A-4
81Cn1021iQn198 DOC
