Department of Water Resources (DWR) records in Sacramento and EHD
records in Stockton PSC followed up the records review with a physical
reconnaissance of the area
Three well records were obtained (contained in Appendix A of this report)
from DWR, although two of these records appear to be for the same location
The first well identifies a location at Ralph Avenue (Airport Way) and Sharps
Lane (Durham Ferry Road) This first well, completed in 1949, was drilled to
a depth of 100 feet PSC believes that the second well log, for Martin Cerri
located on the west side of Sharps Lane south of the Ingles Bakery (now
Earthgrains), is a re-completion of the first well Martin Cerri's well is an
irrigation well re-drilled to 220 feet and perforated from 180 feet to its final
depth This well is located about 400 feet south of the former leaking UST
(see figure in Appendix A) in a cross-gradient position relative to the localized
groundwater flow direction (see Figure 3 and Section-2 2 of this report) Mr
Bruno Cern confirmed the existence of this irrigation well during an April 8,
2003 telephone conversation
The third DWR log states that the well is located at 12th Street and Scribner
Street In fact, 12th Street and Scribner Street do not loin A physical
reconnaissance in the general vicinity of 12th Street and Scribner Street, which
is now a residential area, did not reveal the existence of a water well This
well was reported to be perforated from 192 feet to 408 feet It is likely that
any well in the vicinity of 12th Street and Scribner Street would have been
,rL locatedr e than 2,000 feet away from the former leaking UST and that it
was probabTy when this area was developed for residential housing
HD records revealed a domestic well located at 2733 South Airport Wa
E rP Y
behind the Cern Feed Store This well was originally drilled in 1973 and was
replaced in 1987 The depth or completion interval of this well is not apparent
in the EHD well records, however, ESE reports that it was screened from 140
feet to 160 feet and that it is surface-cased above this interval This well
would be located about 1,000 feet south of the former leaking UST (see figure
in Appendix A) in a cross-gradient position relative to the localized
groundwater flow direction Mr Bruno Cerri indicated during the April 8,
2003 telephone conversation that this well no longer exists and that the feed
store utilizes municipal water
A physical search of the area in the vicinity of Earthgrains did not reveal the
existence of any other water wells A telephone call to the Cngineering
department of the California Water Service indicated that they did not have
any groundwater supply wells within 2,000 feet of the former leaking UST
7
Remedial Action Completion Report
The Earthgrains Company Facility
2651 South Airport Way
Stockton California
' Prepared for T11E EARTIIGRAINS COMPANY Prepared by Philip Services Corp
F11ENVW24001321121382EGIStockton\Stockton}RemediaiCompkuonRwrt doe April 14 2003
