I INTRODUCTION On behalf of The Earthgrains Baking Company (Earthgrains), Philip Services Corporation (PSC:) performed groundwater monitoring at the facility located at 2651 South Airport Way in Stockton, California This service was performed at the direction of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) to monitor groundwater impacted from a former leaking underground storage tank (UST) This report also describes remedial corrective actions PSC has performed to address the impact from the UST, including air sparging and soil vapor extraction A description of the site, UST-related activities, PSC's findings and recommendations are contained herein 1.1 Site Description The facility is a bakery products plant located at 2651 South Airport Way in Stockton, California (see Figure 1) The plant straddles Sections 22 and 23, Township 1 North, Range 6 East of the Mount Diablo Base and Meridian The site has a general elevation of approximately 17 feet relative to mean sea level (MSL) The developed portion of the facility consists of approximately seven acres, which is relatively flat lying, and is almost entirely covered with asphalt and concrete The main facility building covers about two acres An approximately 1,000-foot-long, shallow, stormwater drainage ditch extends westerly along the south side of the facility to a south-flowing drainage canal This ditch empties into the intermittent Duck Creek, which is located about 900 feet south of the plant 1.2 Former Underground Storage Tanks and Previous Work The facility once had four petroleum hydrocarbon USTs A former 10,000- gallon diesel-fuel tank and two 6,000-gallon gasoline tanks were located near the southwest corner of the main building in the vicinity of monitoring well MW-1 (shown in Figure 2) A 20,000-gallon diesel-fuel tank was located on the east side of the facility The gasoline tanks near the southwest building corner were permanently removed in April 1987 The eastern-most gasoline tank had previously been taken out of service and abandoned in place by removing the fuel and filling it with sand The western-most gasoline tank failed a tank integrity test in 4 Novenlhlr 2002 Groundwater Monitoring And Reniedlatlon Status Report I h,,I--arthbratns Baking Contp 1ny 2651 South Airport Way-Stockton Cahlomla PrLpartd for 111F F 1,RIiu-ttuNSB1tiINrComplN) Preparedby Ph111p'tLrvIC65Corp II 1!NV\(24QO1 '!1171 821 1 Moron dog DLLciiiber 9 2002
