r X INTRODUCTION On behalf of The Earthgrains Baking Company (Earthgrains), Philip Services Corporation (FSC) performed groundwater monitoring at the Earthgrains facility at 2651 South Airport Way in Stockton, California This service was performed at the direction of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) to monitor groundwater impacted from a former leaking underground storage tank(UST) This report also describes remedial corrective action currently being performed to address the impact from the UST A further description of the site, UST-related activities, and PSC's findings are contained herein r 1.1 Site Description jThe facility is a bakery products plant located at 2651 South Airport Way in Stockton, California (see Figure 1) The plant straddles Sections 22 and 23, Township 1 North, Range 6 East of the Mount Diablo Base and Meridian The site has a general elevation of approximately 17 feet relative to mean sea level (MSL) The developed portion of the facility consists of approximately seven acres, which is relatively flat lying, and is almost entirely covered with asphalt and concrete The main facility building covers about two acres An approximately 1,000-foot-long, shallow, stormwater drainage ditch extends westerly along the south side of the facility to a south-flowing drainage canal This ditch t empties into the intermittent Duck Creek, which is located about 900 feet south of the plant 1 1.2 Fortner Underground Storage Tanks and Previous Work The facility had four petroleum hydrocarbon USTs, as shown in Figure 2 A former 10,000-gallon diesel-fuel tank and two 6,000-gallon gasoline tanks were located near the southwest corner of the main building A 20,000-gallon ' diesel-fuel tank was located on the east side of the facility The gasoline tanks near the southwest building corner were removed in April 1987 The two diesel-fuel USTs were removed in September 1989 The twestern-most gasoline tank had previously failed a tank integrity test, which was performed in December 1986 The eastern-most gasoline tank had previously been abandoned in place, prior to 1986, by removing the fuel and filling it with sand 4 October 2001 Groundwater Monitoring Report THE EARTHGRAtNs BAKING COMPANY 2651 South Airport Way Stockton,California Prepared for THE EARTHGRAINS BAKING COMPANY Prepared by Philip Services Corp H\ENV\62400132112J382EG\Smckton�Slockton\IOOlmon doe November 16,2001
