• <br />0 0 # • <br />The work area will be inspected to verify no possibility of contact with overhead utilities and the <br />SSO will complete the Utilities and Structures Checklist prior to intrusive work A buffer zone of <br />at least 20 feet from overhead utilities must be maintained <br />Any electrical power tools must be connected to GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) protected <br />circuits All power cords must be inspected for damage prior to use <br />5 5 6 Temperature Extremes Inclement Weather <br />Variable weather will be encountered during field activities Common sense measures such as <br />dressing in multiple layers, taking warm-up breaks, and drinking non -caffeinated warm drinks <br />are most effective in fighting cold PSC -provided raingear should be taken on site Additional <br />precautions may be implemented by the SSO as described in the procedure found in the PSC <br />Environmental Health & Safety Manual Monitoring procedures as described in this procedure <br />shall be implemented as required <br />5 5 7 Noise Hazards <br />Hearing protection is required for work performed adjacent to noise generating sources Hearing <br />protection is required in sound levels of 85 dBA or greater As a rule of thumb, a 85 dBA noise <br />level makes it difficult to commurucate with a person next to you without raising your voice <br />5 6 HAZARD COMMUNICATION <br />MSDSs for any chemicals on site can be requested from the Health and Safety department (800) <br />733-7173 <br />Site Health and Safety Plan 6 <br />I arthgrams/Stockton COL -99-011 <br />Stockton, CA <br />May 15'11 1999 <br />
