s <br />PUB LIC HE LTH SERvqC1 <br />SAV f OAQL IN COUNTY <br />�. =�, <br />E1iViROiV'1iIE�iTAL HEALTH DIVISION `� ' r `# <br />Karen Furst, yf.D , vi.PH., Health Officer <br />304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor - Stockton, CA 93202 <br />2091468-3420 <br />SEP 25 M7 <br />To Whom It May Concern <br />ANALYSIS REQUIRED FOR OXYGENATE COMPOUNDS <br />San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) is under <br />Local Overscgnt Program (LOP) contract with the California State Water Resources Control <br />Board (SWRCS) to provide oversight for the investigation and cleanup of unauthorized releases <br />from underground storage tanks This contract includes a oroviscon Tor technical support by the <br />California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) <br />PHS/EHD has recently received a letter from the CVRWQCS that provides guidance on how to <br />analyze for the oxygenated compounds in gasoline until a "definitive protocol" can be <br />established Based on this leiter, PHS/EHD is directing you to analyze samples tram all of <br />your monitoring wells ',or Tertiary Buryl Alcohol (TBA), Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE), Di- <br />isopropyf ether (DIPE), Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (ETRE) and Ternary Amyl Methyl Ether <br />(TAME) by EPA method 8260 PHS/EHD will require analysis of samples for Methanol and <br />Ethanol where there ;s reason to believe that these compounds were stored in the underground <br />tank(s) <br />PHS/EHD requires quarterly sampling of all wells where the presence of oxygenates is <br />confirmed by EOA method 8260 Modification of this required sampling such as number of wells <br />sampled, sampling frequency and method of analysis may be granted only after initial sample <br />results are reviewed oy PHS/EHD Any modm""cation of the required sampling must have <br />PHS/EHD approval prior to implementation <br />For additional information please call your LOP contact. <br />Donna Heran, RENS, Director <br />Environmental Health Division <br />r <br />Margaret Lagona, REHS <br />LOP Supervisor <br />encl <br />. . >r ua4utn Cjunv 'Teal n C -L - ��- <br />
