2 AUGUST 1999 GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> Philip's groundwater monitoring procedures and findings are contained in this <br /> section <br /> 2.1 Groundwater Monitoring Procedures <br /> Groundwater monitoring was performed by a Philip geologist on August 18 <br /> and August 19, 1999 Groundwater samples were collected from monitoring <br /> wells MW-1, MW-4, MW-9, MW-10, MW-12, and MW-13 as directed by <br /> Ms Carol Oz with the PHS/EHD Groundwater samples were also collected <br /> from sparge wells SP-1 and SP-5, and from. piezometers PZA and PZ-2 Ms <br /> Oz had directed that sparge wells SP-1 and SP-2 and the two piezometers be <br /> sampled, however, Philip's geologist could not locate sparge well SP-2 and <br /> inadvertently sampled SP-5 instead <br /> I <br /> Prior to sample collection, Philip's geologist measured groundwater levels and <br /> the presence of free gasoline product with an electronic oil/water interface <br /> probe Free gasoline product was not observed in any well <br /> Philip's geologist purged a minimum of three well volumes of groundwater <br /> from each well into 55-gallon drums using a downhole pump and clean, <br /> dedicated tubing Field parameters pH, temperature, and electrical <br /> conductivity were monitored for stability The 55-gallon drums were <br /> temporarily stored on-site, then removed and transported to Philip's licensed, <br /> California waste disposal facility <br /> Groundwater samples were collected with clean, disposable bailers, and <br /> transferred into clean laboratory-provided containers Sample containers were <br /> sealed, labeled, and stored on ice for subsequent delivery to the analytical <br /> laboratory <br /> Samples were delivered, with chain-of-custody control, to Acculabs Inc in <br /> Davis California Samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, <br /> 1 xylenes (BTEX), and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) using <br /> EPA Method 602/8015(modified) These samples were also analyzed for <br /> oxygenate compounds TBA, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME using EPA <br /> Method 8260 <br /> r <br /> 7 <br /> August 1999 Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Prepared for TELE EARTHGRAINS COMPANY Prepared by Philip Services Corp <br /> C 1624001321]2 f 382CG16240014510899MON DOC October 8 1999 <br />
