Wright
Environmental
Services, Inc.
October 16, 1948 Construction ♦ Engineering ♦ Remediation
Project No. 3113
Mr. Rich Wilson
48005 Airport Way
Stockton, California 95206
Re: Proposed Soil and Groundwater Sampling Workplan
A. G. Spanos Jet Center, Stockton, CA
Dear Mr. Wilson,
Wright Environmental Services, Inc. (Wright) has prepared this workplan for the
above referenced site. Two 12,000 gallon underground storage tanks used for jet A
and Aviation gasoline are scheduled for removal. Replacement tanks may be placed
in the same excavation or an alternative location (see Figure 1). One 20,000 gallon
underground storage tank used for Jet A fuel is located nearby will remain and is n o t
included in this work.
Technical Approach
The technical approach to this project is to place up to three exploratory borings at
the locations shown on Figure 1. The borings will provide soil and groundwater
quality information and geotechnical information. This approach will provide the
background information for engineering design, potential contaminant location and
depth to groundwater for this site. In addition, this information will be used to
design shoring for excavation work and soil subsurface tank soil engineering
parameters.
Scope of Work
Exploratory, Borings
Up to three exploratory borings will be drilled at the locations shown on Figure 1.
Two borings will be placed in the existing tanks area and one boring in the possible
alternative location. Drilling permits will be secured from the San Joaquin County
Public Health Service-Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) prior to doing the
field work. The boreholes will be drilled with truck mounted hollowstem auger
drilling equipment. All drilling equipment and sampling tools will be cleaned prior
to arriving, and before leaving the site. The augers will be advanced to the desired
sampling depth interval, and a drive split spoon sampler will be driven ahead of t h e
drill bit. The sampler will then be retrieved and dissembled, and the soil filled brass
liner will be sealed with Teflon@ paper and plastic endcaps, labeled, logged onto
chain-of-custody forms and place in a chilled ice chest.
The boreholes will be logged using the Unified Soil Classification System under t h e
supervision of a registered geologist using the attached Wright Sampling Protocol.
Additional lithologic information will be collected to describe the subsurface geology.
4220 Commercial Dr.,Suite 5 • Tracy,CA 95376
209.833.0758 • Fax 209.832.5152
Wright@inreach.com Lic. #651501 A-B HazMat iA,
