weve
3.0 WORK PLAN, ADDITIONAL SITE INVESTIGATION
The objective of the proposed scope of work is to further define the lateral extent of impacted soil
and groundwater beneath the site. To achieve this objective, Damage Environmental proposes t
install three additional groundwater table monitoring wells.
3.1 Project Planning and Permitting
Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plea addendum will be prepared
according to 29 CFR 1910.121 . The health and safety plan will include safety procedures,
chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location.
To perform the proposed scope of work, drilling permits will be obtained from EHD. Since all
three of the proposed groundwater monitoring wells are located on-site, neither encroachment
permits nor private property access agreements will be required.
At least two working days prior to the drilling field work; Ramage Environmental will notify EHD so
that inspections can be scheduled. Underground Service Alert will also be notified so that
member utilities can mark their underground services:
3.2 Groundwater Monitoring Well Installations
To further investigate the distribution of impacted soil, define the lateral extent of impacted
groundwater at the water table, delineate the stratigraphy of shallow subsurface soils, and expand
the groundwater monitoring network at the site, three additional groundwater monitoring wells will
be installed. As shown on Figure 2,the proposed well locations are located to the north;
northeast and east of the former UISTs
;3.2.1 onitorin ell: onstructioi [3eveo rnent and ry
A C-57
licensed contactor will install all of the wells to total depths of approximately 60 feet bg
using a truck-mounted drill rig, and -inch-diameter hollow stem augers. The wells will consist of
20 feet of two-inch diameter, Schedule 40, flash-threaded and machine-slotted (0.0213-inch) PVC
well screen. Since groundwater is anticipated at approximately 50 feet bg , the well screen
intervals will extend from approximately 46 to 66 feet bgs. Blank FVC casings will thread into the
tops of the well screens and extend to the surface.
8
