Airport Way
Stockton, CA 95206
Dear Ms. Meays:
Mosquito and Vector Control District
This letter is in response to your request for changes to the Data Summary and Work Plan, 7759
S. Airport Way, Stockton, California, dated 12 May 1995. Based on your concerns expressed
in our 31 May 1995 telephone conversation, WESTON proposes the following changes to the
Data Summary and Recommendations (Subsection 2.4) of the work plan:
Tanks 1 and 2
As requested, the hypothetical extent of total extractable petroleum hydrocarbon (TPHe,
equivalent to total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel) in soil has been indicated on a revised
Figure 5. Furthermore, based on the extent of the TPHe indicated on the revised Figure 5, the
hypothetical volume of petroleum impacted soil is 53,200 fO. Based on an average TPHe
concentration of 5.39 mg/kg, an assumed soil density of 95 lb/ftp, and the hypothetical volume
of petroleum impacted soil, the hypothetical total mass of TPHe present in soil is 32 lb.
During our conversation you expressed concern that WESTON had indicated in an earlier report
that the TPHe detected near the weed oil tanks was a laboratory contaminant and that WESTON
was now interpreting the detected TPHe as a site contaminant. I have examined the 21 October
1994 Soil and Groundwater Investigation report and have not been able to find any mention of
laboratory contaminants in the report. Please let me know if you have any other reports or
correspondence from WESTON that discuss TPHe as a possible laboratory contaminant.
In our conversation you also mentioned that side wall samples were not collected during the tank
L:1PRO) EGTSLSAN)OQ4SrCECODE.
