3.1 PERMITS
CRA will obtain soil boring permit from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department prior to the beginning of any field operations.
3.2 SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
CRA will prepare a site health and safety plan to protect site works. The plan will be
kept onsite at all times and reviewed and signed by all site workers and visitors each
day.
3.3 UNDERGROUND UTILITY LOCATIONS
CRA will visit the site and mark the locations of the proposed borings. CRA will then
notify Underground Service Alert (USA) of the proposed boring locations and obtain a
USA ticket a minimum of 48 hours prior to drilling. CRA will contract a private utility
locator to locate and mark out any utilities not identified by USA. Actual soil boring
locations will be based on the field conditions and possible utility constraints.
3.4 SOIL BORINGS
Soil borings will be advanced using a track mounted GeoprobeTM, or similar direct-push
drill rig. CRA anticipates drilling six soil borings to a depth of 8 feet below grade
surface (ft bgs) with the former evaporation ponds. An additional six soil borings
around the perimeter of former evaporation ponds and three soil borings in the center of
the proposed stormwater retention basins will be drilled to first encountered
groundwater anticipated at approximately 20 ft bgs. CRA's standard field procedures
for soil borings is presented as Appendix A.
3.5 SOIL SAMPLING
Soil samples will be collected from soil borings drilled in the former evaporation ponds
and the proposed stormwater retention basins. Soil characteristics such as color, soil
type, and soil texture will be recorded.
010001(6) 2 CONESTOGA-ROVERS S ASSOCIATES
