0 0
' SITE SECURITY
' Access during all on-site activities will be restricted to authorized personnel. All personnel and authorized
visitors must contact the Site Safety Officer/Project Manager prior to entering and exiting the exclusion
' zone.
' RECORD KEEPING
All site safety records pertaining to this site investigation, including records of daily tailboard safety
' meetings, will be maintained by the Site Safety Officer/Project Manager throughout the project.
AIR MONITORING
tThe Site Safety Officer/Project Manager (or another qualified person designated by the Site Safety Officer)
will conduct periodic air monitoring, using direct -reading, real-time sampling equipment. This will include
' using a direct -reading photoionization detection meter (Photovac Microtip 1000 or equivalent) to monitor
the concentrations of organic vapors in the work area. Organic vapors will be monitored periodically during
' the collection of soil samples. The meter will be calibrated at the start of each work period with isobutylene
gas. Total organic vapor measurements will be used to determine the appropriate levels of respiratory
' protection, and identify conditions that would require site evacuation. Total organic concentrations in the
worker's breathing zone in excess of 20 PPM will require Level C personal protective equipment. Total
' organic concentrations in the worker's breathing zone in excess of 100 PPM will require evacuation of the
work area until the organic concentrations subside to below 100 PPM.
t
I
1
1
402_331-98_63 B-5
