LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Selected soil and grab ground water samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons
quantified as gasoline ("FPH-(Y) and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes:
BTI;&X). Soil samples ,sere analyzed in accordance with EPA methods 5030/8015m and 8020;
ground water samples were analyzed in accordance with methods 503018015m and 602.
4.0. FINDINGS OF SOIL PROBE BORING INVES'T'IGATION
4.1. STRATIGRAPHY
']',in and gray, silty clay was encountered from surface grade to approximately 20 feet bsg. In probe
borings advanced to 25 feet bsg, the soil tyle consists of tan aad ;ray, silty sand. Saturated
conditions were encountered in the deeper soil unit.
4.2. LABORATORY RESULTS OF SOIL BORING SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in five of mvlve samples submitted for analysis at concentrations ranging from
2.0 to 810 ppm. Benzene %vas detected in two samples analyzed; toluene: was detected in three
samples analyzed; while ethylbenzerne and xylcnes yere detected in four samples analyzed. MTB1-'
%vas detected in one sample, P6-20, at a concentration of 5.5 ppm.
-- Analytical results of probe boring samples are summarized for review on Table 1 -Anul-vlicul Results
of Soil Su»rples. The laboratory report (MAI Laboratory ID 7123)6 through 71248), QzVQC report
and chain-of-custody ars; enclosed as Appendix B.
4.3, LABORATORY RESULTS OF GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Grab ground water samples «^cre collected from probe borings PI and P2. No petroleum
_ hydrocarbons were detected in either grab ground water sample. Analytical results of ground \tater
samples are summarized on Table 2 -A)ialytical Results of Ground lf,ater 5anrples. `The laboratory
report (MAI Laboratory ID 71234 through 71235).
