FINDINGS
Based on the installation of soil borings, the monitoring well, collection of soil and ground water
samples and analyses as proposed in the Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan, the following
findings are presented.
4.1. STRATIGRAPHY
In the general area of the UST, brown, silt and silty sand was encountered from surface grade to
depths of approximately 20 feet bsg. Gray fine to medium sand was encountered at depths between
18 and 19 feet bsg. Silty clay was encountered from 19 to 20 feet bsg at the total depth of the well.
The soil boring logs are included in Appendix A.
4.2. DEPTH TO GROUND WATER
The depth to static ground water in the well at the site was approximately 12 feet bsg. Saturated soils
were encountered at a depth of 16 feet bsg.
4.3. HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
The results of the laboratory analysis of soil samples from boring B I on 20 July 1998 were as
follows:
TPH-g was detected in one sample collet-led -oin a depth of 5 feet bsg in boring B1. The
concentrations of TPH-g for sample B1-5 was 830 milligrams per kilograms: mg/kg.
• Benzene was not detected in soil sample B1-5. Toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes were
detected in the same soil sample at concentration of 0.58 m&'1%g, 7.1 r g."_gad 5° mg/Rg,
respectively.
• TPH-g and BTEX were not detected in any of the other soil samples.
• N-butyl benzene was detected in soil sample B1-5 at a concentration of 3,700 micrograms
_ per kilogram: ug/kg. N-Propyl benzene was detected in soil sample B1-5 at a concentration
of 4,000ug/kg. Also 1,2,4-and 1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene were detected in soil sample B1-5
at a concentration of 39,000 ug/kg and 15,000mg/kg, respectively.
• DIPE, ETBE, MTBE, TAME and TBA were not detected in the soil samples.
_ Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
