18 November 1998 <br /> AGE-NC Project No. 98-0470 <br /> Page 2 of 7 <br /> titled Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater Spring 1996, also published by the FCD&WCD, <br /> shows the subject property to be in an area where ground water flows toward the northeast, but this <br /> may be modified by changing recharge and discharge patterns and localized ground water flow <br /> direction may vary. <br /> The historical depth to ground water at the properties based on the San Joaquin County FCD&WCD <br /> map titled Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater 1978 was reported to be approximately 25 feet bsg. <br /> Ground water is considered to be of beneficial use and is utilized for domestic, industrial and <br /> commercial purposes. <br /> 3.0. PROCEDURES <br /> AGE advanced the soil borings, installed the monitoring well, collected soil and ground water <br /> samples and conducted analyses as presented in the PHS-EHD approved Preliminary Site <br /> Assessment Work Plan, dated 30 June 1998. <br /> 3.1. SOIL BORING AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> -- On 20 July 1998, soil borings B1, B2 and B3 were advanced at the site. Boring B1 was advanced <br /> through the former UST excavation, borings B2 and B3 were advanced east of the former UST <br /> excavation. The boring location is illustrated on Figure 2. Boring B I was advanced to a depth of 20 <br /> feet bsg, while borings B2 and B3 were advanced to a depth of 10 feet bsg. Boring BI was <br /> completed as a ground water monitoring well (MW-1). The we1.1 was completed using 2-inch <br /> diameter schedule 40 PVC casing with 0.02-inch slotted screen from approximately 20 to 10 feet <br /> bsg. A filter pack was installed using#2 Lonestar sand from 9 to 20 feet bsg. Bentonite chips were <br /> used to make a two-foot plug and the remaining annular space was backfilled to the surface with <br /> portland cement. A traffic-rated well box (8-inch diameter) was installed ove: each well, in <br /> accordance with County regulations. Monitoring well construction details for well MW-I are also <br /> included on the boring log (Appendix A). <br /> 3.1.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> Drilling was performed using a truck-mounted CME 75-HT drill rig equipped with continuous flight, <br /> eight-inch, hollow-stem augers. The drill rig and two-man crew were supplied by Soils Exploration <br /> Services of Sacramento, California. <br /> Advanced GeoEnviro=ental,Inc. <br />
