18 November 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0470
titled Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater Spring 1996, also published by the FCD&WCD,
shows the subject property to be in an area where ground water flows toward the northeast, but this
may be modified by changing recharge and discharge patterns and localized ground water flow
direction may vary.
The historical depth to ground water at the properties based on the San Joaquin County FCD&WCD
map titled Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater 1978 was reported to be approximately 25 feet bsg.
Ground water is considered to be of beneficial use and is utilized for domestic, industrial and
commercial purposes.
3.0. PROCEDURES
AGE advanced the soil borings, installed the monitoring well, collected soil and ground water
samples and conducted analyses as presented in the PHS-EHD approved Preliminary Site
Assessment Work Plan, dated 30 June 1998.
3.1. SOIL BORING AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
-- On 20 July 1998, soil borings B1, B2 and B3 were advanced at the site. Boring B1 was advanced
through the former UST excavation, borings B2 and B3 were advanced east of the former UST
excavation. The boring location is illustrated on Figure 2. Boring B I was advanced to a depth of 20
feet bsg, while borings B2 and B3 were advanced to a depth of 10 feet bsg. Boring BI was
completed as a ground water monitoring well (MW-1). The we1.1 was completed using 2-inch
diameter schedule 40 PVC casing with 0.02-inch slotted screen from approximately 20 to 10 feet
bsg. A filter pack was installed using#2 Lonestar sand from 9 to 20 feet bsg. Bentonite chips were
used to make a two-foot plug and the remaining annular space was backfilled to the surface with
portland cement. A traffic-rated well box (8-inch diameter) was installed ove: each well, in
accordance with County regulations. Monitoring well construction details for well MW-I are also
included on the boring log (Appendix A).
3.1.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
Drilling was performed using a truck-mounted CME 75-HT drill rig equipped with continuous flight,
eight-inch, hollow-stem augers. The drill rig and two-man crew were supplied by Soils Exploration
Services of Sacramento, California.
Advanced GeoEnviro=ental,Inc.
