LFR Levine-Fricke Revised
• Well cluster PSEW-4 S and 6 will each be constructed with one shallow well
screen within the vadose zone and one deep well screen within the saturated
zone PSEW-4 will have one well screen from 10 to 20 ft bgs and the second
from 50 to 75 ft bgs. PSEW-5 will have one well screen from 20 to 30 ft bgs
and the second from 50 to 75 ft bgs PSEW-6 will have one well screen from
30 to 40 ft bgs and the second from 50 to 75 ft bgs The shallow well screen in
the well cluster will be used for soil vapor extraction, and the deep well screens
will be used for spargmg or as a sparging monitoring point
• Well cluster PSEW-7, 8, and 9: PSEW-7 and PSEW-8 will be constructed with
well screens from 10 to 20 ft bgs and 20 to 30 ft bgs, respectively PSEW-9
will have two well screens; vire from 30 to 40 ft bgs within the vadose zone,
and the lower well screen from 50 to 75 ft bgs within the saturated zone
The locations of the wells are depicted in Figure 10.
5.11.1 Dual Purpose SVE and Groundwater 5parging Wells
Fully Screened Wells: The fully screened dual-purpose SVE/GS wells, FSEW-1,
FSEW-2, and FSEW-3, will be installed for the purpose of extracting soil vapor,
monitoring soul vapor, for groundwater sparging, and for groundwater monitoring
during the pilot tests (Figure 10) The wells will be screened from 10 to 35 ft bgs and
from 50 to 75 ft bgs The shallower screen interval will be used for SVE/morutoring
and the deeper screen interval will be used for air/ozone sparging/monitoring purposes
Since the fully screened extraction well FSEW-1 is located within a vadose zone source
area, this well will be installed in a borehole drilled using the air-rotary casing hammer
drilling technique This drilling technique uses a conductor casing and will be used to
avoid issues of cross-contarmnahnri that can potentially be caused by hollow-stern auger
drilling techniques in source areas FSEW-1 will be constructed using 4-inch-diameter
stainless steel casing. FSEW-2 and FSEW-3 are not located within vadose source areas
and will be drilled using the hollow-stem auger drilling method Each well will be built
using 4-inch-drametar polyvinyl chloride(PVC) casing in FSEW-2 and FSEW-3
Details regarding the soul boring and well installation methods are included in
Appendix A of"Draft, Remedial Investigation, and Feasibility Study Work Plan, Lodi,
California," dated April 29, 2002 and prepared by LFR(LFR 2002) and Section 8 of
this Work Plan
The shallow well screen to be installed for purposes of vapor extraction will be
constructed across the entire uMbarated zone, between 10 and 35 ft bgs. The screen
interval will be constructed so as to murumxze the potential for cross contarunnatior), and
to rruninuze potential for air leakage from the ground surface. Well screens will consist
of 0 125-inch slots and medium-grained sand filter pack to maximize airflow rates
The shallow and the deeper screened intervals will be separated by a blank section of
the PVC pipe and a packer will be installed to mitigate the potential for flow of
Page 12 wysvec.S-WL rev-0e123 doc Jft
/Zi d BETOV906021: 01 9060 ZS9 OTS 3NO18-d 3NIA31 8JI N3 09 9i ZO, 68 inn
