'con
tainrnnerat Solutions
ForTex
A New Material for Maximum Durability
Icon Containment Solutions, LLC has spent significant time and resources in research and testing the
latest advances in flexible materials for the purpose of identifying the most structurally and chemically
durable repair and new construction sump entry fittings possible for petroleum UST and AST applica-
tions.
Icon worked specifically with polymer manufacturers in the U.S and research laboratories, including
the European Polymer Research Laboratories at Queens University (Belfast, Ireland), to identify a
material durable enough for the challenging environmental conditions of underground sumps and
above ground storage containment and transition boxes. This research addressed the compatibility of
all the latest fuels, ethanol blends and bio -fuels. Ultimately, a new material, labelled ForTex, was
determined to be the best option for these applications.
Testing considered the true sump and backfill environments in which repair and pipe entry fittings are
installed. With an understanding of the performance of materials currently in this market, Icon
reviewed benchmark testing of ForTex for performance longevity in a range of different environmental
conditions, including: High Density Hydrocarbons; Ozone; UV; High & Low -Temperatures; Water
Saturation, and all current Fuels Saturation; Tensile Strength; Flexibility; and Vibration Stress. ForTex
performed better than all of the current industry standard flexible materials.
Inall testing conducted in-house and through 3rd parties there was no degradation leading to leak-
age. Including Underwriters Laboratories (UL), which was completed in October 2012. All Icon flexible
components for Split -Repair and New Construction Sump Fittings are now made with ForTex. Icon's
newest line of fittings for new construction, RigidFlex, are manufactured with a combination of
glassed nylon housings and ForTex boots, and are backed by the RigidFlex Replacement guarantee for
the life of the sump. (please see details)
Icon products are to be installed by Icon Certified Installers, and are only intended for uses described
in the Icon training and marketing materials. Before use in any other application, user shall determine
the suitability of the product by contacting Icon.
