Airport Way , Manteca, CA 95336 <br /> Plant Manager: Nelson C. Hiner (209)858-2544 <br /> Main Office: 4560 Horton St . , Emeryville, CA 94608 <br /> Counsel for Corp : Jane Stratton (415)655-8730 <br /> Complaint : Complainant suspects ground water contimination from plant <br /> operations. He says plant discharges wastes to dairy pond. He <br /> suspects chemicals being used. <br /> A survey inspection by Ron Valinoti , Acting Director and Laurie Cotulla, <br /> Senior Sanitarian revealed the following comments . <br /> 1 . Waste stream from process was follows: <br /> Approximately 8,000 gal per day of water is discharged to ponds <br /> owned by De Groot. <br /> Water treated by O.R. unit prior to discharge . O. R. removes <br /> dissolved solids. <br /> 2 . Boiler blows down approx 5 gal/day. No analyses has not <br /> been done by operator of effluent . <br /> 3 . 3 barrels of Nitric Acid stored at facility . Nitric Acid <br /> is used as per Manager. Aproximately 4 barrels of NaOH and <br /> approximately 8 barrels of phosphoric acid were in quarantine <br /> area. <br /> 4. "Fermentation broth" , approximately 4 ,000 gallons per week <br /> goes to a sump and is pumped to an above ground tank for <br /> treatment with sodium hypochlonte prior to discharging to <br /> pends . <br />
