0 0
UNIFIED PROGRAM HAZARDOUS WASTE INSPECTION REPORT
NOTICE TO COMPLY
19. Containers within the outdoor storage area and a container within the lab area
have been onsite longer than 90 days. Within 30 days properly dispose of the
hazardous waste that has been onsite for longer than 90 days and provide this
office with documentation of proper disposal.
The following containers within the outdoor storage area and the
container within the lab area were shipped offsite on March 8, 2004 and
disposed of at a licensed TSDF on Manifest Number 22853856: Page 1,
Item 11A, Page 2, Item 28.c, Item 28.d (Photo #1), Page 3, Item 28.a, and
Page 3, Item 28.f (Photo #6).
20. Hazardous waste labels were found with incomplete labels. All hazardous
waste containers must be labeled with the following information: 1. The
words "HAZARDOUS WASTE". 2. Facility name and address. 3.
Accumulation start date. 4. Physical state. 5. Hazardous properties. 6.
Contents. Label all hazardous waste containers with complete information.
All hazardous waste labels that were found without the proper
information were corrected on March 5, 2004 (including container in
Photo #7 which was overpacked and shipped offsite on Manifest Number
22853856, Page 3, Item 28.d).
21. Hazardous waste container must remain closed except when adding or
removing a waste. Containers storing hazardous waste were found without a
proper cover during the inspection.
1. The chromium filter press collection container did not have a lid.
Provide a lid for this waste or begin immediately placing filter press
waste in a proper hazardous waste container with a lid and label.
2. Two drums within the paint booth area were found without proper lids
(A solvent wipes waste drum and a paint waste drum in the flammable
cabinet). Immediately provide proper lids for the two drums.
The chromium filter press "cake" will only be emptied into the collection
container when the waste can be immediately placed into a hazardous
waste drum (Photo #5). Attached is a copy of the procedure that is
included in our Slug Discharge Control Plan.
The solvent wipes waste drum was closed with a lever lock to close the
drum. We have purchased 6 self-closing steel drum covers (See attached
Purchase Order and catalog description) to determine if it will make it
easier for employees to open and close satellite accumulation drums that
contain solid hazardous waste. If successful, more of the self-closing
drum covers will be purchased. (Photo #3) The lid to the funnel on the
