Representatives Present
Donald Helton, Plant Manager, T.P.C.
Dennis Kirkpatrick, Materials Control, T.P.C.
Stephen Posner, Waste Management Specialist, DOHS-TSCD
IV. Description of Facility and Waste Streams
Triangle Pacific Corporation (TPC) is involved in the assembly and fin-
ishing of kitchen cabinets . Much of the machining and fabrication of
the cabinets occurs at other TPC facilities throughout the U.S. TPC has
been at this location for five years, employs 62 full-time workers and
covers 250,000 square feet.
Wastes generated at this facility consist of waste lacquer and thinner
and solids contaminated with lacquer and thinner. These wastes are
stored in 55-gallon drums on a concrete pad at the rear of the facility.
All wastes are transported by American Environmental Management Corp-
oration (AEMC) to the I.T. , Martinez site. The drums used to hold the
wastes are left at the facility, as AEMC pumps the wastes out of the
drums at TPC. According to Mr. Helton, these drums are then picked up
by Rose Cooperdge, Montibello, CA, recycled, then returned to •the
Reliance Corporation for reuse. Rose Cooperdge picks up empty drums
only three times per year; they will not make a pickup unless there are
at least 80 drums available.
