9
FLEETWASH INC. MANTECA, CALIFORNIA
SPILL PREVENTION PLAN I MODIFIED CONTINGENCY PLAN
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES ARE DESIGNED TO ELIMINATE OR
MINIMIZE ANY ACCIDENTAL SPILLS OR SLUDGE DISCHARGES TO THE
SANITARY OR STORM SYSTEMS.
DISCHARGE PRACTICES: Fleetwash in its normal course of business,
washing commercial vehicles at customer's sites, recovers all waste water
generated on the property as required by present government regulations. This
water is vacuumed off the ground and transported back to the Fleetwash facility
for elimination.
ROUTINE: The normal discharge procedure is to pump all recovered water from
the Fleetwash vehicle into a holding tank, This water is allowed to settle for a 24
hour period. This time period allows any free solids to settle out to the bottom of
the storage tank. At the end of the settling time, water is pumped off one foot
from the bottom through an electro -coagulation system. The wastewater is then
pumped through a series of three bag filters using 25, 10 and 5 micron filters, in
series. At the end of the line is a point to take samples for laboratory analyses
and also to perform a random pH check, before final discharge to sanitary.
Routine batches consist of between 500-1000 gallons per day.
All accumulated solid waste, from the settling tanks is handled by a licensed
disposal company. This waste is manifested and handled as non -hazardous or
regulated waste. The manifest names Fleetwash Inc., the transporter and the
final disposal site, and lists the EPA ID. Number for each party.
All waste oil is handled as hazardous waste following California regulations.
STORED CHEMICALS: MSDS sheets are on file and on display for all
chemicals used in the workplace.
NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES: A notice is permanently posted on the
Fleetwash bulletin board, listing all emergency phone numbers. Included in this
list, is the number advising employees who to call in the event of a sludge or
accidental discharge or bypass or any condition of non-compliance. Within one
