I had been out of the office on vacation and various inspections.
Owner/operator of new tank systems(installed after July 1991) shall obtain a written assessment reviewed and certified
by an independent, qualified, California registered professional engineer.
A new tank system must have secondary containment and leak detection equipment per 22 CCR 66265.193 installed.
The engineer's assessment report is a legal document that attests to the system's design and installation and must be
kept on site for inspector's review per 22 CCR 66265.192(k).
So even building a secondary containment around the used oil tank would not exempt the tank from having its
assessment being performed. The assessment must be renewed every 5 years.
I am not placing a timeline of when this assessment must be completed as it will take some time to complete but
unfortunately the used oil tank still needs its tank assessment. Please make all future correspondence to my supervisor
Lead Senior Garrett Backus, ph. 209-468-2986, if you need assistance as I will be handling this case to him.
Thuy Tran, Sr. REHS
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue Stockton, CA 95205-6232
Phone (209)468-8257
Fax(209)468-3433
http://www.sioov.om/ehd
From: Keith Wood rmailto:kwoodCashimmick.com]
Sent: Monday, June 30, 2014 12:48 PM
To: Thuy Tran [EH]
Subject: RE: Hazardous Waste Inspection
Thuy
I forgot to send you a copy of our weekly shop inspection that now more clearly covers container labeling, secondary
containment,tank condtion and plubing condtion.
Thanks
Keith Wood
510-715-8466
From: Keith Wood
Sent: Friday,June 27, 2014 4:26 PM
To: 'ThuyTran [EH]'
Cc: Dave Kohler
Subject: Hazardous Waste Inspection
Thuy
1
