VALINOTI, R.E.H.S. , DIRECTOR
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
DATE: March 7, 1990
RE: REQUEST FOR LEGAL ACTION
Aero Nostalgia, Inc.
7030 South C. E. Dixon St.
Stockton, CA.
I. INITIAL SUMMARY:
On July 11, 1989 Public Health Services - Environmental Health
Division (PHS-EHD) , received a memo from George Wells, S. J. Co.
Deputy Fire Warden, concerning numerous 55 gallon drums stored
around the Aero Nostalgia hanger area.
An inspection was conducted by Charles Hunt, EHS, concerning
hazardous waste violations. A "Notice to Abate" was issued to James
Ricketts, General Manager, Vice President of Aero Nostalgia. The
"Notice to Abate" required Aero Nostalgia to properly label and
remove all the hazardous waste barrels on the property by August
15, 1989.
Mr. Ricketts returned a phone call from Charles Hunt on August 21,
1989 and confirmed the barrels had not been removed but a contract
had been made with Telic Engineering, a registered hazardous waste
hauler, to remove the material within 3 weeks.
Several contacts were made between Telic Engineering, Jim Ricketts
and PHS-EHD, without gaining the removal of the waste barrels.
On February 1, 1990, a reinspection of the site was performed by
Charles Hunt. The waste barrels still had not been removed and a
notice was issued to Mr. Ricketts to remove the waste barrels by
March 1, 1990.
1
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
