1 Hazelton, E1 Dorado, and Church Streets. Area II may have contained <br /> 2 a small portion of the original gas manufacturing facility. <br /> 3 Currently, Area II is owned and operated by PG&E as an electrical <br /> 4 power distribution facility. <br /> 5 2 . 1. 4 . Area III . Area III was owned by PG&E from 1928 to 1981. <br /> 6 Since 1981, this parcel located on the southwest quarter of the <br /> 7 block bounded by Commerce, Church, Sonora, and Center Streets has <br /> 8 been owned by Morton Paint Company. Available historical records <br /> 9 indicate that this parcel was the location of a 2 , 000, 000 cubic foot <br /> 10 manufactured gas holder. The records confirm that a portion of the <br /> 11 original manufactured gas facility was operated by PG&E on Area III. <br /> 12 2 . 2 . Past Investigations. PG&E submitted a "Preliminary <br /> 13 Assessment of the Former Manufactured Gas Plant Site in the City of <br /> 14 Stockton" to the Department in December, 1986. The purpose of the <br /> 15 Preliminary Assessment report was to evaluate the environmental <br /> 16 conditions of the PG&E owned portion of the former gas manufacturing <br /> 17 facility identified in this Order as Area I . Following the <br /> 18 submittal of this report, PG&E began a partial remedial <br /> 19 investigation of Area I. The following workplan and reports <br /> 20 regarding remedial investigation activities in Area I have been <br /> 21 submitted by PG&E to the Department: <br /> 22 a. "The Stockton Former Manufacturing Gas Plant Site <br /> 23 Characterization Workplan" , prepared for PG&E by EBASCO <br /> 24 Services, Inc. - September, 1987 ; <br /> 25 b. "Site Characterization Report, Volume 111 , prepared for PG&E <br /> 26 by EBASCO Services, Inc. - April, 1988 ; and <br /> 27 c. "Site Characterization Report, Volume 211 , prepared for PG&E <br /> COURT PAPER 5 <br /> STATEOF CALIFORNIA <br /> STD. 113 1REV. B•721 <br /> 8�34769 <br />
