REPUBLIC <br /> SERVICES <br /> Safety Manual <br /> Hazard Communication Program <br /> c. Proper work practices, emergency procedures, and protective equipment required for <br /> protection from exposure when using hazardous chemicals; <br /> d. An explanation of the Hazardous Material Information System or other labeling systems <br /> used; <br /> e. The potential hazards associated with the materials contained in pipes within the work <br /> area; <br /> f. How to use Material Safety Data Sheets to obtain appropriate hazard information; <br /> g. Procedures to follow if personnel are exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals; <br /> h. Chemical hazards of non-routine jobs specific to each work area; <br /> i. General safety instructions on the handling, cleanup, and disposal of hazardous <br /> chemicals. <br /> j. Where a copy of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation, <br /> 29 CFR 1910.1200, on Hazard Communication and is made available to personnel. Note: <br /> This is typically kept in the MSDS Notebook or in a similar system. <br /> Retraining is required whenever one or more of the following conditions exist: <br /> a. There is a change in a person's work assignment, which presents a new physical or health <br /> hazard for which the person has not been trained. <br /> b. A new physical or health hazard is to be introduced, or an old hazard changes, at the <br /> facility for which personnel have not been previously trained. <br /> c. There are deviations from the Hazard Communication Program or inadequacies in a <br /> person's knowledge of the hazards associated with chemical usage. / <br /> Personnel training is documented in writing using Employee Training Record - Form 1003, or an f <br /> equivalent form. <br /> VIII. CONTRACTORS AND CONTRACT LABORERS <br /> Prior to performing any work at this Republic Services facility, contractors will be required to <br /> complete and meet the requirements of the company and follow its accompanying Safety Rules for <br /> Contractors and, if applicable, employers of contract laborers will be required to complete and meet <br /> the requirements ol'the Temporary Labor Services Agreement. <br /> Outside contractors or contract laborers who may come in contact with hazardous chemicals <br /> used by Republic Services personnel are informed of such chemicals by designated personnel. <br /> Information provided to the outside contractor(s) includes potential health hazards, appropriate <br /> precautionary measures, and the availability and location of the Material Safely Data Sheets. <br /> All outside contractors who use hazardous chemicals while performing work on Republic <br /> Services properly are required to Furnish copies ol'appropriate MSDS sheets to their designated <br /> Republic Services contact prior to using the chemicals at this site.
