How are Fires Classified ? <br /> Fires are classified by the types of materials that are <br /> burning . <br /> Class A — Ordinary combustibles or fibrous material, <br /> such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber and some plastics. <br /> Class 6 — Flammable or combustib/es liquids such as <br /> gasoline, kerosene, paint, paint thinners and propane. <br /> Class C — Energized electrical equipment, such as <br /> appliances, switches, panel boxes and power tools. <br /> Class D — Combustibles_Metals such as magnesium, <br /> titanium, potassium and sodium . These metals burn at <br /> high temperatures and create their own oxygen to <br /> support combustion . The may react violently with <br /> water or other chemicals. <br />
