V11 FIRE EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS <br /> The following equipment/ systems are in place to control fires. This <br /> section also includes proper maintenance and inspection of the equipment. <br /> 1. Portable Fire Extinguishers <br /> Inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers will include the <br /> following: <br /> a. All portable units should be inspected on a monthly basis <br /> by Bill Saleh, plant manager or a trained designated <br /> employee. <br /> b. The annual maintenance date should be recorded and the <br /> record retained for one year after the last entry or life of the <br /> shell, whichever is less. The annual maintenance will be <br /> performed by Stockton Fire Equipment. <br /> C. All portable fire extinguishers must be hydrostatically tested <br /> at appropriate intervals. <br /> 2. Hose Systems <br /> The plant manager will be required to make all <br /> necessary inspections. <br /> a. Fire hose reels or cabinets will be of a design to facilitate <br /> prompt use of the hose valves, the hose, and other <br /> equipment during an emergency. <br /> b. The reels and/or cabinets will be clearly identified and used <br /> only for fire equipment. <br /> C. The fire hose will meet the listed minimum requirements: <br /> 1. Hose outlets and connections will be located high <br /> enough above the floor to avoid being obstructed yet <br /> remain accessible to employees. <br /> 2. Appropriate adapters will be provided to assure that the <br /> hose connections are compatible with those used on the <br /> supporting fire equipment. <br /> 3. The hose will be of a sufficient length where friction loss <br /> 5 <br />
