0 0
not managed as hazardous waste. However, the label had been faded and it was unclear when
accumulation of the cylinders had started. The cylinders were recycled offsite on June 27. 2018.
A copy of the shipping bill of lading is provided in Attachment 2.
Hazardous Waste Labeling-#605
During the inspection, several hazardous waste containers were not properly labeled in accordance
with requirements. All waste containers were re-inspected to ensure they had the proper labels
with correct information. Labeling requirements were reviewed with Production Staff. Waste
labeling references were posted in the Drain Building to provide clear instruction on how to
properly complete a label for the common types of wastes stored onsite.
Lead Acid Battery Management-#607
During the inspection, damaged lead-acid vehicle batteries were observed to not be properly
managed. Damaged batteries were placed in acid-resistant plastic bags to prevent the release of
acid and lead, and the date of accumulation was placed on the container. Battery handling and
storage requirements were reviewed with applicable staff and emphasized the requirement to
ensure that damaged batteries are managed properly. A photo showing the properly managed
damaged battery is provided in Attachment 3.
Universal Waste Labeling-#707
During the inspection, a container of electronic waste was observed to be labeled incorrectly. The
label was corrected and a photo of the container of—waste is provided in Attachment 3.
We hope that these responses and the actions taken to correct the findings noted during your
inspection meet the requirements of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
Should you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact me at 916-204-7625.
