CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br />CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br />MONITORING AND REPORTING PROGRAM NO. <br />NPDES NO. CA0081396 <br />FOR <br />UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA <br />LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SITE 300 AND <br />U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY <br />ALAMEDA AND SAN JOAQUIN COUNTIES <br />EFFLUENT MONITORING <br />Effluent samples shall be collected from the cooling towers at Buildings 801, 836A, and 865 <br />on a quarterly basis and analyzed for total dissolved solids (TDS) and pH. During the time <br />cooling towers at Buildings 805, 809, 810, 812, 815, 817, 826, 827-1, 827-2, 828, 836D, <br />851-1, 851-2, and 854 discharge to surface water drainage courses (SWDC), the discharge <br />from each cooling tower shall be sampled and analyzed for TDS and pH as soon as discharge <br />begins and quarterly thereafter. The samples should be representative of the volume and <br />quality of the discharge. Time of collection of samples shall be recorded. Rate of flow shall <br />be measured biweekly, total flow estimated and reported quarterly. <br />Surface water samples shall be taken quarterly when possible from Corral Hollow Creek <br />downstream of cooling tower discharge points. <br />Storm water monitoring shall be in accordance with the monitoring program and reporting <br />requirements of the general permit for storm water, Section B. The Discharger shall submit <br />a revised storm water monitoring and reporting program no later than 1 July 1994. <br />REPORTING <br />Monitoring results for the cooling towers shall be submitted to the Board by the 20th day of <br />the month following each calendar quarter. <br />The Discharger shall submit an annual report to the Executive Officer, and to the local <br />agency if requested, by 30 July of each year. The report shall include a summary of visual <br />observations and sampling results for all cooling towers and storm water discharges covered <br />by this Order. <br />By 30 July of each year, the Discharger shall certify, based on an annual inspection, that the <br />facility is in compliance with the requirements of this Order and its storm water pollution <br />prevention plan. All reports submitted in response to this Order shall comply with the <br />signatory requirements of Standard Provision D.6. <br />
