,
Ms. Lori Duncan
October 3, 2003
Preliminary results from the laboratory were below detection limits f6r all constituents of concern.
The analytical report will be submitted under separate cover upon receipt from the laboratory.
Evaluation of Construction Details
Mr. Marty Harris of Tuff Boy will again attempt to obtain well construction details of the facility
production well and the nearest domestic well in order to evaluate whether either of the wells are
vulnerable to contamination due to construction details (shallow or n6 well seal, for example).
Evaluation of Real-time Influence Using Field Methods, If Necessaiy
If well construction details are not available, then the pumping influence of the nearby
production/domestic wells on the contaminant plume will be evaluated by monitoring groundwater
elevations in site wells while pumping from the facility well and the nearby domestic well, in turn.
4 r
Static water Ievels will be monitored for 48-hours prior to initiating pumping from the facility well
to establish natural groundwater fluctuations in the absence of-pumping. It will not be possible to 1
cease pumping from the neighbor's domestic well prior to the test since that well is the sole source
of water for the residence.
After the initial 48-hour monitoring period, the facility well will be operated for up to two hours.
The rate of pumping will be monitored, as will the water levels in site monitoring wells. The test
will be repeated using the upgradient domestic well as the pumpingwell. The monitoring wells
will be allow to recover prior to pumping from the domestic well if drawdown is noted in any 1
monitoring well.
Ground Zero will outfit each monitoring well with a pressure transducer to monitor changes in
b
water levels during the 48-hour pretest and during pumping. Tl e pressure transducers will continue
to record data until all monitoring wells have recovered to pre-test levels.
Reporting I 1
Following the receipt of analytical results, a technical report describing the methods and results of
the investigation proposed herein will be submitted to EHD. The report will describe, to the degree
possible, the nature and extent of contamination and will contain recommendations for additional
work if appropriate.
Protocols and Safety
All field activities performed at the site will be conducted in accordance with Ground Zero's
Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan Site Safety Plan on file1with PHS/EHD.
woo 1 se y.cht/r epo r tslw o rk p]an.m w s
it
i
l i
