Y %ftlo 4t
Ground Zero Analysis, Inc.
SITE SAFETY PLAN
FACILITY BACKGROUND
The site is operating as manufacturing facility that produces truck trailers. The facility formerly
utilized a 1,100-gallon underground storage tank (UST) for the storage of regular and unleaded
gasoline. The UST was removed in February 1999. Very low levels of ethylbenzene and xylenes
were detected in soil samples collected from the UST excavation.
WORK PLAN
Task One: Advance three (3) soil borings using a truck mounted Geoprobe 5400 direct push
drilling rig to depths of approximately 25 feet below ground surface in the area of the former UST
to determine current concentrations of residual soil contamination resulting from past site operations
and to determine if groundwater has been impacted by an unauthorized release.
Task Two: Collect soil samples from each boring at minimum 5-foot intervals for logging and
submittal to a state-certified laboratory for analysis. Collect a groundwater sample from one boring
for submittal to a state-certified laboratory for analysis.
JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS AND SUMMARY
Chemical Hazards
TASK{S} CHEMICAL PELISTEL/IDLN KN01NN SIGNSISYMPTOMS
{SOIL,-MATER A1R, CONCENTRATION
:.'ETC }
1,2 Benzene PEL 0.1 ppm (NIOSH)1 2.1 ppb (water) Irritation of eyes, nose,
1 ppm (OSHA) respiratory sys; giddiness,
14 ppb (sail)
STEL 1 ppm (NIOSH)/ headaches, nausea,
5 ppm {OSHA) staggered gait, fatigue,
IDLH 3,000 ppm anorexia, lassitude,
dermatitis, human
carcinogen.
1,2 Toluene PEL 100 ppm 2.1 ppb (water) Fatigue, weakness;
STEL 150 ppm confusion, euphoria,
IDLH 2,000 ppm dizziness, headache; dilated
pupils, tearing, nervousness,
muscular fatigue, insomnia,
paresthesia, dermatitis.
PAGE 2
