(Ground Zero) on behalf of the above
referenced site and has the following comments.
The report documents the investigation that was conducted at this site on December 10,
1999. Three soil borings were advanced for the purpose of collecting soil and grab
groundwater samples for analysis. Results of the soil analysis indicate that petroleum
hydrocarbon contamination appears to be limited to the top ten feet of subsurface soils.
The lateral extent of the shallow soil contamination was not been defined. Results of the
groundwater analysis indicate that contaminant impact to groundwater has occurred.
The groundwater contamination has not been defined laterally or vertically.
The report recommends the installation of several groundwater monitoring wells and
possibly more soil borings to delineate the lateral extent of the shallow soil and
groundwater contamination at this site. PHSIEHD agrees with this, and requests that
the vertical extent of the groundwater contamination also be investigated.
Please prepare a work plan to continue the investigation at this site and submit it to
PHSIEHD by June 2, 2000. Please prepare and submit with the work plan a well survey
that documents the locations of all domestic, industrial, agricultural, municipal and other
wells within a 2000-foot radius of the site.
