This is based on the fact that: there is
spillage of unknown chemicals and waste in and outside of the
buildings; there are open vats of plating solutions in the wet
process area (several are in poor condition); the wood flooring
is damaged in several places; there is at least one item in an
interior lab identified as an explosive; there is a container of
thorium nitrate with a radioactive hazard label in the interior
lab; there are several exposed wires throughout the building
where equipment was removed (it is not known if these are
energized but there is power to the buildings); and there is
paper and combustible debris scattered throughout. In addition,
there are approximately 300 containers of hazardous waste in the
outside area. There is access to these areas, and no warning
signs are currently posted. The Department requests that EHD
take immediate action, including but not limited to, issuing a
Fence and Post order to the responsible parties and/or land
owner(s),
