<br /> Previously I reviewedtheWell Installation and Pilot Test Work Plan (Workplan) received 8 December
<br /> 2008 from your consultant ETIC Engineering, Inc. (ETIC). My 23 December 2008 Workplan response
<br /> letter (Letter) requested a revised Figure 3 of the proposed remediation well locations. Subsequently
<br /> Bryan Campbell of ETIC contacted me by phone on 8 January 2009, and we discussed moving the
<br /> wells to the south, in response to my Letter concerns with the pilot test targeting tight clays and clayey
<br /> silts with groundwater extraction and soil vapor extraction. On 14 January 2009 1 received an email
<br /> from Erik Appel of ETIC, which included a revised Figure 3 indicating the wells were moved south to
<br /> locations with a higher probability of encountering more permeable sands. The new locations for the
<br /> remediation wells are acceptable; therefore, final approval is given to schedule the installation of the
<br /> two groundwater extraction wells (EX-1 and EX-2) and three soil vapor extraction wells (VEW-1
<br /> through VEW-3).
<br /> Please procure the appropriate permits, and give the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
<br /> Department and myself at least three working days notice prior to starting fieldwork. If you have any
