ExxonMobil Oil Corporatio* - 3 - • 25 November 2008
75 E. Alpine Ave., Stockton
• As indicated above, installation of wells MW-8 and DW-4 may postponed until offsite access
is given; however, when these wells are installed, I recommend that they be relocated closer
to CPT-4, unless additional technical documentation is provided to show the 75'-80' bgs
sand unit reported at CPT-4 actually extends to CPT-5.
• The Well Installation Report for DW-1 through DW-3(and if offsite access is granted, offsite
wells DW-4 and MW-8) is now due 31 March 2009, per an ETIC email request for an
extension received 18 November 2008. All new wells will be monitored quarterly for all
constituents in the current monitoring program. The Well Installation Report shall provide a
recommendation to include active remediation of contamination at your site.
• If additional information is determined necessary to evaluate the feasibility of a remedial
alternative, then a Workplan for a bench scale test (BST) or a pilot study (PS) is also due
31 March 2009 and may be combined with the Well Installation Report.
• A Feasibility Study (FS), due 31 May 2009, shall include all data collected to date, including
the new deep wells, and shall evaluate at least three active remedial technologies for
probability of technical success and cost effectiveness. If a BST/PS is determined as
necessary to provide data for conducting the FS, then the FS is due 45 days after
completion of fieldwork approved under the BST/FS workplan.
• Future fourth quarter reports shall evaluate the current monitoring program and provide a
recommendation for reductions in monitoring frequencies and analyses. Those
recommendations must include technical justification for the changes, and will be reviewed
and approved in writing by Regional Board staff before any changes to the monitoring
program are implemented.
Please procure all necessary permits and easements for the wells installation, and give the San
Joaquin County Environment Health Department and myself at least three working days notice prior to
start of work and for any changes to the schedule.
