,/7
16777 Howland Road, Lathrop
Received a call from the San Joaquin General dispatch Approximately 10gals of sulfuric
acid had leaked from its storage tank.
Arrived at the site and met with Scott Rosenquist, production supervisor. He took me to
the accident scene. I took pictures.
I asked him about the two releases that occurred on'5/9107 and 5/11107 and why the tank
has not been emptied and repaired. Scott said that they are in the process of empting the
tank but it is taking time because tank#8, where the product is being temporarily stored,
can only hold 14 feet of liquid. He said that as the liquid level goes down during
production the leaking tank is being emptied. He said that it will take a day or two to
empty the entire tank.
He also said that someone has left the valve to the day tank closed and there was a
pressure built into the base of the tank that initiated the release. As long as the valve is
open there should not be any more leaks.
The day tank is being monitored with an alarm and emptied as needed.
Left scene at 1 o'clock.
