Simplot <br /> Tank No. 8 August 27-28,2008 <br /> Lathrop, CA Page 24 of 54 <br /> 5.0 NDT INSPECTION <br /> 5.1 NDT INSPECTION SCOPE <br /> The following Nondestructive Testing (NDT) was conducted to evaluate the physical <br /> characteristics of the tank: <br /> A) Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) scan of the tank bottom for the detection of <br /> significant internal or underside metal loss. Performed in accordance with HMT <br /> Inspection MFL Procedure No. 1611.6, Revision No. 1 (HMT 1-1). <br /> B) Quantitative remaining thickness measurements in any area of significant metal <br /> loss. Performed in accordance with HMT Inspection UT Procedure No. 1611.1, <br /> Revision No. 4. <br /> C) Visual Inspection (VT) of areas restricted from MFL coverage for the detection of <br /> anomalies or significant internal metal loss which may affect the integrity. <br /> Performed in accordance with HMT Inspection VT Procedure No. 1611.9, <br /> Revision No. 2. <br /> D) Random Ultrasonic (UT) readings on shell 1 roof nozzles. Performed in <br /> accordance with HMT Inspection UT Procedure No. 1611.1, Revision No. 4. <br /> E) Random Ultrasonic (UT) readings on bottom plates. Performed in accordance <br /> with HMT UT Procedure No. 1611.1, Revision No. 4. <br /> F) Random Ultrasonic (UT) readings on shell 1 roof plates. Performed in <br /> accordance with HMT Inspection UT Procedure No. 1611.1, Revision No. 4. <br /> 5.2 SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS <br /> The MFL scan revealed two (2) areas of significant metal loss.
