No. 03988-016-001
RE: Submittal of Third Quarter 1992 Monitoring Report - Major Mart Project
1235 East Alpine Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Turkatte,
Please find enclosed a copy of the referenced report. For the purpose of continuity with the
field activities at the site, this report actually covers the time period of July 1992 through
October 1992. This extension of the calendar quarter allowed inclusion of the newly installer)
monitor wells in the monitoring program and assisted to provide relevant data for revision of the
site's remedial plan. Future monitoring reports will revert to a regular calendar quarter
schedule.
This report has been organized to discuss groundwater monitoring and the remedial program
status separately while addressing the requirements of your agencies' letter to American Real
Estate Group of November 12, 1991. The remedial program is also separated into soil and
groundwater elements. While all program elements are focused on the goal of final remediation
of the site, we have found on other projects that review of each individual element assists to
focus attention on relevant issues. For example, a review of the monitoring data suggests that
continued analysis of groundwater for total lead and fecal coliform does not appear to serve a
useful purpose for the remedial program as all analyses over the past year have shown non-
detectable results for coliform and very low to non-detectable results for lead. Hence, the report
contains a request to delete these analytes from future monitoring events.
It is my understanding that Mr. Vincent, the American Real Estate Group project manager for
this project, may be in Stockton next week and would like to arrange a meeting with you at that
time. WESTON looks forward to discussing the direction this project should take in the future.
Sincerely,
ROY F. WESTON, INC.
rad."d
Paul V.
