QUARTERLY MONITORING REPORT
FOURTH QUARTER 1992
MAJOR MART PROJECT
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
This document has been developed to report quarterly groundwater sampling activities and
' results for the Major Mart site located at 1235 East Alpine Avenue in Stockton, California
(Figure 1 and Figure 2) during the fourth calendar quarter of 1992 The report is organized to
address the reporting requirements discussed in the San Joaquin County Public Health Services'
' (the County's) letter dated November 12, 1991 to American Real Estate Group (AREG) To
respond to the County's requirements, this report is presented in two sections The first section
reports on the results of the fourth quarter groundwater monitoring program, while the second
' section discusses the status of the overall remedial program with an emphasis on work completed
during the quarter While this report is referred to as the "Fourth Quarter 1992 Report," it
actually covers the time period of November i thru December 31, 1992 because the previous
' third quarter report covered activities in October 1992 to assist continuity in that report.
Additionally, past quarterly reports have contained much historical project information That
information has been deleted from this report to change the focus of this report toward recent
' and future events Where historical data is of importance to the current status of the project,
it is referenced Should users of this report be interested in the overall history of the project,
reference should be made to the WESTON Third Quarter 1992 Report dated November 13,
M 1992.
2.0 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING SUMMARY
This section presents the results of the fourth quarter 1992 monitoring event as well as a
compilation of monitoring data from prior quarterly monitoring events
2.1 Field Activities
■ The groundwater monitoring program consists of two aspects. 1) field measurement of
groundwater elevation, temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity, and 2) collection of
groundwater samples for laboratory analysis. There are six groundwater monitoring wells at the
site and all were inspected for the presence of floating product and sampled using the procedures
detailed in the Field Report presented in Appendix A. Samples were submitted to the WESTON
' Analytics Laboratory for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) using
EPA Method 8015-M and BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene) using EPA
Method 8020 Total lead and fecal coliform have also been analyzed as part of past quarterly
' monitoring programs. However, per discussions with the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division, analysis of these parameters will only be required once annually in the future
Hence, total lead and fecal coliform will again be analyzed during the third quarter 1993
' monitoring event
SCKCIRP-r51AREG4QrR WP 1 okn693
