Failed to store Universal Waste (UW) lamps in closed container, in manner that prevents <br />breakage & release to environment. Failed to immediately containerized any broken lamps or releases to <br />the environment. Failed to label UW to identify UW from new lamps. Unable to demonstrate the length of <br />time UW has been accumulated from date it became waste. <br />Used fluorescent bulbs were observed stored open, broken and uncontainerized in outdoors trash area <br />within the enclosed fence. UW lamps shall be contained in a closed container or package that is <br />structurally sound, adequate to prevent breakage, and compatible with the contents of the lamp. <br />Immediately containerize all universal waste fluorescent lamps/bulbs in accordance with Title 22 <br />regulations. <br />The bulbs were observed without the words 'universal waste.' A generator shall label or mark UW with <br />the words 'Universal Waste' and the type of waste (batteries, mercury containing equipment, lamps/bulbs, <br />electronic devices, CRTs, CRT glass, aerosol cans). Immediately label these wastes and ensure that all <br />future UW are labeled with the required information. <br />A generator of UW (batteries, mercury containing equipment, lamps/bulbs, electronic devices, CRTs, <br />CRT glass, aerosol cans) shall accumulate universal waste for no longer than one year from the date the <br />waste was generated.
