Document Number: 909 R 5003 <br /> PI LKINGTON - <br /> " Procedure r =' Rev: 5 Date: 5/24/07 <br /> EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES <br /> Emergency Equipment for Chemical Releases + 'n <br /> There are chemical release kits in the-following areas: <br /> • flammable storage building <br /> • in acid/water chemical storage building, south side by silos <br /> • outside the hazardous waste collection.building (HWB) - southside behind the <br /> lab . 3 . . . <br /> Each kit contains the following: <br /> • coated Tyvek overalls - can be used for dry and liquid releases <br /> • absorbent pillows and booms - can be used for all types of releases <br /> • green gloves - can be used for all dry and liquid releases <br /> • goggles <br /> • boots and shoe covers <br /> Within the HWB, there are additional supplies such as shovels, brooms, labels, dry <br /> absorbent material, etc. Respirator supplies may be obtained by notifying the <br /> Health & Safety Manager. <br /> Outside the HWB, there are empty, clean, black, 55 gallon DOT approved metal <br /> drums with lids and locking rings. These drums may be used for the collection of <br /> spilled materials. Additional bags of dry absorbent are located in the storeroom. <br /> The kits and supplies are checked on a regular basis and restocked as needed. <br /> Acid & Caustic Releases <br /> Soda ash (for acid spills) can be found in the Boiler Room and forklift shop. <br /> Additional supplies of soda ash and sand can be obtained from the tank supervisor <br /> or silo operator. <br /> Chlorine & Mercury Releases <br /> A 1 ton chlorine cylinder emergency kit is located in the main security office.
