Office of Emergency Services
January 27, 1995
Page 2
In a subsequent phone conversation between Safeway and Arson Investigator Marty
Galindo of the City of Stockton Fire Department, we were informed the fire department
categorizes this event as a hazardous condition, rather than a full incident, and that there
were no off-site consequences. The release was mainly confined to the compressor
room, although there was a small amount of seepage into an adjacent corridor. There
was no release to any waterways, as the ammonia vaporized upon exposure to
atmospheric conditions.
Please call if there are any questions.
Very truly yours,
Melita Elmore
Vice President
Environment, Health & Safety
ME.np.doc2
cc: National Response Center
State Office of Emergency Services
Co.
