A 55 gallon black steel drum of drained used oil and fuel filters was observed with a faded <br /> hazardous waste label and no lid. Used filters must be stored in a closed, rainproof container, labeled <br /> as "drained used oil and gasoline filters," and marked with an accumulation start date. Immediately label <br /> and close this container and ensure that all used filters are managed in this way. <br /> 611. No disposal records were observed on site for used oil and fuel filters. According to Mr. Jones and <br /> Mr. Joseph, the filters have not been disposed of in at least one to two years. Facilities that generate up <br /> to one ton of used oil filters per year may store the filters up to one year. Immediately recycle these <br /> filters under a bill of lading and submit a copy of the bill of lading to the EHD by June 2, 2013. <br /> 701. Disposal records were not available on site for used oil, used antifreeze, and spent absorbent. <br /> According to Mr. Joseph and Mr. Jones, that is because the facility has not disposed of this waste in the <br /> past several years. Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not <br /> exceed 6000 kg of waste stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. <br /> Immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and <br /> submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD by June 2, 2013. <br /> 912. No notification has been made to the EHD for the puncturing of aerosol cans. A universal waste <br /> handler that processes universal waste aerosol cans shall, no later than the date on which the activity is <br /> first initiated, submit a notification, in person or by certified mail, to the EHD. Each notification shall be <br /> completed, dated, signed, and shall include: <br /> 1. name, identification number, site address, mailing address, and phone number of the handler <br /> 2. description of the aerosol can processing activities, including type, estimated volumes or quantities <br /> of aerosol cans to be processed monthly, treatment processes, equipment description, and design <br /> capabilities <br /> 3. description of the characteristics and management of any hazardous treatment residuals <br /> An amended notification shall be submitted within 30 days of modifying any of the submitted in the <br /> notification.
