Site Safety Plan • • Job No. 4780201 The Decontamination Zone will constitute the area immediately surrounding the ' Exclusion Zone. This is a clean zone with a reduced probability of exposure through inhalation and no probability of dermal contact with known contaminants. All decontamination activities will take place in this area. ' The Support Zone will be the area outside of the Exclusion and Decontamination Zones. To enter the Support Zone from the Exclusion Zone, ' the Decontamination Zone must be passed through and appropriate decontamination activities must be conducted. Equipment storage and worker ' lunch areas are located within the support zone. Smoking and chewing tobacco will be allowed only in this area. Personnel not authorized or trained to be in the Exclusion Zone must remain in this area while on site. F. Personal Decontamination - Modified Level D ' PPE for modified Level D will be removed in the following manner, inside the Decontamination Zone: ' - Remove Tyvek suit by rolling down suit from the inside. Remove disposable gloves and put on a new pair. ' - Remove respirator, hard hat/face shield and properly dispose of cartridges; wash respirator. ' _ Clean boots thoroughly in the decontamination water provided. Remove boots and then disposable gloves. ' G. Subsurface and Sampling Procedures ' The work area must be approved for subsurface penetration prior to drilling operations. During sampling procedures, at least two workers should be present in case of a medical emergency (also see Section IX., D., 2.) H. Illumination ' All field work is expected to be conducted during daylight hours. If work is conducted during non-daylight hours, lights will be used to fully illuminate the ' work area. ' I. Material Handling ' Contaminated soil and PPE will be stored in 55-gallon drums or on top of and covered by visqueen pending disposal. EzC, Inc. April 4, 1997
