Chief Hyde of Stockton Fire Department stated that his office had no information that
would indicate that his Department had ever had to respond to any type of emergency at or
near the subject site.
According to Department of Water Resources (DWR) files, there are no domestic wells
within the study area. The DWR files do not indicate water quality problems have been
identified at the site or within the study area.
Mr. D. Fields, Office of Emergency Service, stated that his office has no record of any
unauthorized spills or releases at the site or within the study area.
Mr. Fields did discuss the massive ground problems at the McCormick & Baxter
Creosoting Company approximately 3/4 of a mile to the north of the subject site on West
Washington Street, subsequent discussions with DWR reported that this facility is under
investigation by various local, state and federal agencies. The investigation to date indicates
the ground-water contaminant is moving in a westerly direction and should not pose any
threat to the ground-water of the subject site.
No other concerns were noted during our discussion with agency personnel.
5.4 Groundwater Sampling
At the request of the client, Telic applied for and received a permit from the San
Joaquin County Public Health Service to complete two(2)borings on the subject site to sample
ground-water.
The borings were drilled to approximately forty (40) feet, where ground-water was
encountered. The borings were purged by bailing and allowed to stabilize. Samples were taken
from a stainless steel bailer and collected in laboratory prepared two liter glass bottles with
Teflon lined caps. The samples were stored on ice for delivery to the laboratory.
The samples were delivered to the GeoAnalytical Laboratories in Modesto, California
9
