Ui
SJCEHD USPS's Stockton Vehicle Maintenance Facility Work Plan .
dispenser conveyance.piping.,and similarly angled. Samples from this boring will be .
collected from'approximately 10 feet`.beneath the dispenser,conveyance-piping and from
.approximately 154eet-beneath the.diesel fuel dispenser. .The: approximate boring _
locations and a typical angled boring diagraih-are.shown ori.Figures i and 2,--respectively.
The subsurface investigation will be conducted using atruck-mounted drill rig equipped
with 8-inch hollow-stem augers. Soil.samples.will be collected using a split spoon
sampler.
The.soils sampled.at approximately .5-foot intervals_will.be logged using the Unified Soil.,
Classification System (ASTM-D-2487). Soil vapors from each sample will.be monitored
with an organic vapor.meter-(OVM). The soil will be placed in a .ZiplockTm bag for several
minutes; the bag then will be pierced with;the OVM-probe in order to record the organic
vapor levels present.
Soil samples for laboratory analysis will be collected in brass liners. The ends of the liners
will be'covered in.aluminum foil or Teflon film,_fitted with plastic end caps, taped, and
labeled with a unique identification number: The samples then-will be placed in an ice-
chilled cooler and transported to,a-state-certified analytical laboratory with chain of
custody documentation.
Closure-PUn-for the Underground Motor Oil and Waste Oil Piping
Mr. Rollo Stephenf with Ramcon Engineering.'and Environmental Contracting, Inc. was
..contacted in order to determine the protocol utilized to abandon the underground motor
oil and waste oil underground piping.that was left in-place. Mr. Stephenf.indicated that
the underground piping was triple rinsed, cut, and capped.
To-evaluate soil quality beneath the left:•in-place piping, our field engineer or scientist will
sample four exploratory borings,(approximately-one boring per 20 feet of piping). A
private-utility locator will be.utilized to locate the underground.piping: The boring
.locations will be.cored and hand sampling equipment will be utilized.to collect samples
from-approxiniately 2:feet beneath the piping. The boring locations are also shown on
Figure 1.
Laboratory Analyses
Based on .field observations and'OVM readings, selected soil samples from each boring
will_b analyzed'at-a. state.certified laboratory. The laboratory analytical plan is presented.
in the table below. All arlalyses will be performed on a standard one-week-laboratory
response time.
No.of ' No.of S S LUFf
Burin Location I Burin samples TPH I. TPHd_-.
