' PACTIV
HW SATELLITE ACCUMULATION AREAS (SAAB)
1 . Under CA HW rules, you are allowed to store up to 55 gallons PER
WORK AREA for each HW for longer than normally allowed.
2. This designated container is considered a "Satellite Accumulation
Area", SAA, or Satellite Accumulation Container
3. The SAA rules are very confusing in California, for the following
reasons:
• You must mark the initial date of accumulation in the SAA
• You can only keep waste for one year max. in the SAA
• You must have a full YELLOW HW label on the SAA container
Once the SAA is full, you must move the waste or container to a
storage container within 3 days
• The full date of the SAA becomes the clock used for the required
90/180 day disposal
4. Only use SAA containers when absolutely necessary
5 . Only applies to HW (CA or RCRA) — not Universal Wastes
6. Recommended container labeling is shown on the attached slide
