4. Remove refuse and trash, such as shrink wrap material from bins, trash bins, etc.; empty bins in <br />appropriate trash receptacle. <br />5. Compact all recyclable materials; operate compactor unit(s). <br />6. Clean and sanitize lavatories, including toilets and urinals; stock or replenish paper, soap, and other <br />dispensers. <br />7. Clean and/or sweep slot areas in assigned aisles; manually pick up and remove damaged product(s), <br />replacing undamaged product in appropriate location; transport damaged product(s) to salvage area. <br />8. Clean and sweep all stairwells, and exteriors of the facility. <br />9. Apply appropriate cleaning agents, and utilize effective cleaning methods, adhering to established <br />standards and procedures; wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), when necessary. <br />10. Ensure safety of areas cleaned; scatter absorbent on wet floors to prevent slipping, etc. <br />11. Respond to, and clean up, spills following proper handling procedures including adherence to Unified <br />Grocers', and OSHA guidelines and/or requirements. <br />12. Assist other Janitor/Cleaners with assigned tasks, as requested or necessary. <br />Required Knowledge, Skills/Abilities: <br />Knowledge of custodial/janitorial practices, and operation of equipment, including operation of floor <br />scrubber -sweeper unit, compactor, and tug; knowledge of proper use and handling of cleaning agents and <br />materials; knowledge and understanding of company standards regarding cleanliness of the facility, and <br />safety procedures and practices. <br />Skill/Ability to drive and operate equipment safely and effectively; adhere to a time schedule, and/or <br />rotational schedule for cleaning tasks; be exposed to unsanitary conditions, and use appropriate method(s) to <br />remedy and sanitize; the ability to choose and operate in a safe manner various tools and power equipment <br />relative to the assigned task; the ability to work and communicate well with other associates and supervisors; <br />the ability to self -motivate and perform all assigned tasks independently with minimum supervision; and the <br />skill/ability to read, comprehend and complete forms, logs and documentation, as required. <br />Work Schedule <br />DAYS: Sunday — Thursday and Monday - Friday <br />HOURS/SHIFT: 40 hours per week shift 8 hours, 6:00 am — 2:30 pm/ 7pm-3:30am <br />OVERTIME: Occasionally <br />BREAKS: Two 20 minute MEALS: 40 minutes <br />UNION AFFILIATION: Teamsters 439 <br />Janitor -Cleaner (psychological factors) 2 <br />
