If we transfer product from a drum or bucket into a smaller container, this container must be
labeled also. The label we use for this is called "HMIS", or Hazardous Materials Identification System.
HMIS Label Example
errs• ieNs• wris• r . ews• cells• ers• wps.
I
NMS'
Chemical Name
* 2
1
PERSONAL PROTECTION p
I
P
am. tern• ems• sees MMIs• eees• was• a
Minimum PPE level for any chemical
will always be Level B
2
' CHRONIC HAZARD
Chronic (long-term) health effects may result repeated overexposure.
+ 01&- + l
No significant risk to health.
sass +
Irritation or minor reversible injury possible.
+ •o + j +
l
71R + Ott +
`I
77i + Ott + ,V
Life-threatening, major or permanent damage may result from single or repeated overexposures.
+Ett+
+md+i+ Y
[
+ +,:
W + Omit +1K+"
r'
+ + ' + `'
Consult your supervisor
or S P. for 'SPECIAL
handling directions
Awn
o o'
P
q Lr
i
Is X
tu
y
W .,%
Y
Z
aaa.neem ..
2
' CHRONIC HAZARD
Chronic (long-term) health effects may result repeated overexposure.
O=MINIMAL HAZARD
No significant risk to health.
1=SLIGHT HAZARD
Irritation or minor reversible injury possible.
2=MODERATE HAZARD
Temporary or minor injury may occur.
3=SERIOUS HAZARD
Major injury likely unless prompt action is taken and medical treatment is given.
4=SEVERE HAZARD
Life-threatening, major or permanent damage may result from single or repeated overexposures.
2
