GEOSYNTEC CONSULTANTS
Ms. Amy Terrell
31 January 2005
Page 3
account for the trace levels observed in groundwater samples. Therefore, the
' investigation proposed in this work plan is aimed at addressing other groundwater
constituents cited by the RWQCB, including nitrate, ammonia, 1,2-dichloropropane
' (1,2-DCP), and 1,2,3-trichloropropane (1,2,3-TCP). These chemicals are consistently
found in site monitoring wells at concentrations above California maximum
contaminant levels (MCLs) for drinking water.
PREVIOUS SOURCE AREA DELINEATION
' Soil Investigation
' JTF and GeoSyntec investigated conditions in the operations areas as part of a
Phase II Environmental Site Assessment 6. Five soil borings, STOI through ST05, were
advanced in January 1999 near the former liquid tank farm, the vapam tank, the old
' wash pad area, and an equipment storage area. Soil samples were collected from one,
five, and ten feet below ground surface(bgs). The soil samples were analyzed for:
t • Nitrate and nitrite as nitrogen;
• Ammonia as nitrogen;
• J g
Total Kjedahl Nitrogen(TKN);
• Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)(EPA Method 8260);
• Organochlorine Pesticides and PCBs (EPA Method 8081);
' • Or ano hos horous Pesticides, including analysis for Bolero (thiobencarb) and
' Ordram (molinate)(EPA method 8141);
• Chlorinated Herbicides (EPA Method 8151);
' • EDB, DBCP, and 1,2,3-trichloropropane(MSE002);
' P:\PRJ2003REM\Wilbur-Ellis\Wi0250(JTF)\STOCKTON\S 1.X\2005 Source Area Inve&SSI Work Plan.doc
G
`^, RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE w
